SVG Symbian Themes
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)is a text-based graphics language that describes images with vector shapes, text, and embedded raster graphics. SVG files are compact and provide high-quality graphics on the Web, in print, and on resource-limited handeld devices such as Symbian S60 3rd edition mobile phone. In addition, SVG supports scripting and animation, so is ideal for interactive, data-driven, personalized graphics.Since the newer versions of the Symbian Series 60 platform support SVG graphics this vector format is used to create Symbian themes that could be used on devices with different screen sizes. So while creating a theme for Nokia NSeries phone where most of the displays are 240x320 pixels (portrait mode) the theme will look distorted if viewed in landscape mode 320x240 if made with raster graphics rather than SVG. Also this enables the theme to be compatible with mobile phones with displays such as 352x416.
