Theme contest for best Symbian S60 theme!

Well it is official now, the first stage of the theme contest is starting as of today. All in all it is a "let the best theme win" championship for S60 theme designers from all around the world. Anyone can participate in the theme contest with a unique theme creation, three themes at most will be allowed to be submitted by the same author.

The contest will have two stages, the first one starting from today will be the submission of the themes, as of today February 3rd 2009 and until February 28th all theme designers will be able to design and submit their themes. All received submissions will be tested and uploaded to the contest site until March 1st 2009.

On March 1st we will open the Symbian themes contest site for voting and will introduce the themes to our visitors. The best theme will be selected by user votes and NOT by our decision. Read on more about the contest rules and prizes on the next page of this post.

Symbian Themes Contest Rules

All theme designers have the opportunity to participate and win one of the prizes as long as they enter the contest willingly.
All submitted themes must be original, which means they should not be rip offs of other themes and must be created solely for the purpose of this contest. Previously created themes will not be accepted.
All the theme elements in the theme must be intellectual property of the author. If you are using some icon pack created by some other designer, please make sure you have his permission to use it.
There are no limitations on the theme design as long as it does not break any laws or include design elements that propagate violence, racial intolerance, or advocacy against any individual, group, or organization.
The created themes should be compatible with Symbian S60 3rd edition FP1 and Symbian S60 3rd edition FP2. Symbian S60 5th edition for mobile phones like the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music and Nokia N97 is a plus since more users can use your theme and thus vote for it.
All themes must work properly and do not have any problems.
Each author has the right to submit three themes at most. Variations of a theme are considered separate submissions.
All submitted themes must be kept secret until 28th of February, screenshots or downloads must not be presented anywhere.
After March 1st 2009 and one month from end of the contest the themes can be downloaded only through symbianthemes.us, after that the author can put the theme for download on his/her website.
By submitting the theme the author agrees that he is willingly participating in the contest and agrees with the Symbian Themes Contest Rules.

Voting and prizes

All the submitted themes to the contest will be made available on the contest site on March 1st 2009 at 0:00 CET. The visitors of the site will be able to vote for the theme only once every 24 hours. One visitor can vote for multiple themes if he finds them interesting. The voting system is secure and will not allow any manipulations with the theme votes.

The prizes for this contest are symbolic but we think that the winning part is a good enough motivation for participating. Since all the authors are from different places in the world and we could not find a company that will deliver securely to every little city in the world we decided to go with money as prizes:

1st place: $200.00
2nd place: $100.00
3rd place: $50.00

All prizes will be paid through PayPal, so if you don't have a PayPal account please create one. It is quite an easy process. ~~We will not send checks or use any other methods of payment other then PayPal.~~ If you live in a country where PayPal is not available there is an alternative payment method through Western Union.

How to submit your themes

As soon as you are finished with creating the theme and have successfully tested it, you can send the theme to our email address provided bellow. Please include the text "For the theme contest" in the subject of the message.

You should send the theme files, six screenshots by your choice presenting the strong points of the theme and a compatibility information.

I have only one question: will be there any options other than paypal? I live in a country where paypal does not accept the receiving of payments, only sending.

We will be taking a look at this matter to see if Western Union can be used as a payment method for the winners. But for now we officially support only PayPal.

This looks interesting, a Symbian theme contest. Having in mind the quality of the themes presented on the site I think we will have one hell of a theme for a winner. One more perfect theme for my Nokia N96

Can I just send the idea as an entry for my theme, and use it to compete, because I have a great idea but I do not have the chance to write the program
